Join us in ensuring that all of our communities get fair representation and our public lands are protected. Every 10 years, after the Census, our country goes through the process of redistricting — drawing new Congressional district boundaries to reflect population changes. Redistricting influences who wins elections, what legislation can pass, and who has a say in the management of our public lands. In California, an independent redistricting commission draws the lines and we need your help to make sure they provide fair representation for all Californians.
The Issue: Flawed Redistricting Maps
The California Citizens Redistricting Commission has issued draft district maps for the new version of the 27th, Congressional district in the San Gabriel Valley currently represented by Rep. Judy Chu. These proposed changes would needlessly divide the San Gabriel Valley Asian Pacific Islander community and dilute their vote. The proposed new versions of the diverse 28th and 29th Congressional districts currently represented by Adam Schiff and Tony Cardenas, respectively, would no longer include the Angeles National Forest, cutting off 1,500,000 people in Glendale, Burbank, Tujunga, Pacoima and many other areas from from having a member of Congress who can represent them on issues involving these federal public lands.
