Rizalyn’s project focused on providing resources to BIPOC folks about greening opportunities surrounding the San Gabriel Mountains with the intent of diversifying people interested in advocating for the mountains and its future projects.
For the Leadership Academy Capstone Project, Rizalyn created the Beauty of BIPOC zine with 3 BIPOC interview panelists working in different careers and volunteer opportunities supporting the San Gabriel Mountains and river system. The purpose of this Zine is to introduce folks to green career options in our local mountains and to diversify people interested in advocating for the San Gabriel Mountains and its future projects.
The panelists have a diverse array of career experience that shows readers that they can become involved in environmental work at a variety of levels and experiences. This zine is available to everyone and it is catered for youth, teens, and anyone looking to change their career or expand their knowledge and experience in conservation and advocacy for land protection.

Rizalyn hopes that this project will challenge and empower BIPOC folks with being a land steward and feel less intimidated to be involved with programs like the Nature for All Leadership Academy.
You can access the Zine here.
We are proud of Rizalyn for her dedication and work to make this project possible. We are also grateful to LA2050 and USDA Forest Health Protection for making these projects possible.
