We had the honor this June of witnessing Congresswoman Judy Chu and Senator Alex Padilla ask President Joe Biden to use the Antiquities Act to expand the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. This is the next step in a 20-year, locally-driven effort to protect the #SanGabrielMountainsForever!

Thank you to Chief Anthony Morales and Tribal President Rudy J. Ortega for opening the ceremony and speaking on the importance of respecting and protecting the San Gabriel Mountains. Thank you to our recent Leadership Academy graduate Brian Gonzalez or speaking on why the San Gabriel Mountains are important to him. Thank you to our stewards who helped with the event set up and clean up! This event wouldn’t have been possible without our community!

We had more than 100 community members from the San Fernando Valley and Southeast LA regions join to show community support to protect the San Gabriel Mountains. After the event, many hiked the Eaton Canyon trail for the first time to enjoy the waterfall. Thank you LA County Parks for a beautiful time in nature!

Expanding the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument will help increase equitable access to nature and honor the original stewards of these lands, the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians and Gabrieleño (also known as Kizh, Gabrielino, Tongva) Peoples.

Thank you Supervisor Hilda Solis, Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Rep. Tony Cardenas, Secretary Wade Crowfoot, Pasadena Mayor Gordo and Monterey Park Vice Mayor ThomasWong for your continued leadership and support!

Have you signed our petition yet? Add your name in support of protecting these sacred lands for future generations.

Look forward to the journey ahead coalition partners and supporters!
