Message from Executive Director Belén Bernal
I am excited to celebrate my first Public Lands Day (September 25) since joining Nature for All! I have had several months to form part of the amazing Nature for All team and am certain we are on the right path to continue to serve our communities with our work, from our leadership program to transit initiatives — and as we pursue additional funding to increase access to nature!
Since protecting our public lands — and providing more access to public lands and nature — is core to our mission, we are planning to celebrate Public Lands Day with community partners. But Public Lands Day is more about enjoying nature — it’s a celebration of public service. As the largest single-day volunteer effort in the country devoted to public lands, it is also closely aligned with our Leadership Development program to develop and empower more environmental stewards.
Working to ensure that all of our community members have equitable access to nature comes with the responsibility to care for our public lands, and to lead by example. Here’s our guide on how to recreate responsibly. This year, we are relieved that enjoying — and caring for — our treasured natural spaces and parks has become safer, with lower COVID-19 infection rates and fewer restrictions in place.
