In a year that none of us expected, we are proud to have found new and safe ways to provide services to our community that protect our public lands, connect us to nature, and create the new leadership we need for a more just and equitable region.
The pandemic has underscored the need to provide the training and tools necessary for better leadership, developed and nurtured in underserved communities. We need leaders to protect our public lands and natural resources, take action on climate change, and fight for social justice. We need fair and just representation for all Angelenos. Now more than ever, we need our Leadership Development program.
Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, we have found safe and effective ways to train community ambassadors and Leadership Academy participants. We are finding and training diverse community members to become LA’s future leaders. In a year that was filled with hardships, we have seen signs of hope with this work.
As we reflect on this challenging year, recount our successes, and finalize our plans for 2021 — which includes sustaining and expanding our Leadership Development program — we ask you to please join us in creating opportunities for community members to become the leaders we need. We thank you for whatever contribution you can make.
