Nature for All community members gather to speak on why they support the expansion of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
Azusa, CA – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in partnership with the Forest Service hosted a public listening session on Nov 7, 2023 where hundreds of Tribal leaders, community leaders, and residents called on President Biden to add 109,000 acres of the western Angeles National Forest to the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
Our local community voiced their support for expanding the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and for ensuring adequate resources to care for this special place. The proposed expansion area would honor the region’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, will help increase equitable access to nature, address the climate and biodiversity crises, and increase equitable access to nature for more than 18 million people living near the San Gabriel Mountains.
Nature for All community members and partners speak on why they support the expansion of the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument at the USDA public listening session on November 7, 2023.
We are proud of our community ambassadors for taking the initiative to attend the public listening session and making their voices heard. We are excited to see the strong support to permanently protect the San Gabriel Mountains.
