Southeast Los Angeles Youth Outdoors (SELA YO)

Nature for All’s mission is to build a diverse base of support to ensure that everyone in the Los Angeles area, especially from underserved and park-poor communities, has equitable access to nature, and the wide range of benefits that nature provides.

The Southeast Los Angeles Youth Outdoors (SELA YO) program introduces youth from the SELA community to the natural environment. Participants of the program learn and practice outdoor skills, including hiking, leave no trace ethics, and native plant identification. Participants also have the opportunity to explore California’s local beaches and mountains through a series of outdoor excursions.

This no cost program takes place in outdoor, urban park settings across Southeast Los Angeles and includes two single day weekend excursions to our local mountains/beaches, and a 2 night weekend camping trip.

Participants in Action

As part of the program, participants will be able to implement a project intended to give back to their community. Participants who complete the program will receive a $500 stipend.
