Nature for All is looking for a Program Manager that will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of All Aboard for Nature trips from local community hubs to County parks, nature centers, and public lands.

Position Summary

In this role, the Program Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of All Aboard for Nature trips from local community hubs to County parks, nature centers, and public lands. The Program Manager will provide fun, safe, and interpretative programming in a language relevant to program participants. The All Aboard for Nature program ensures improved access, knowledge and connectivity to nature and open spaces by reaching exclusively high-park need and very-high park need communities within Los Angeles County to enjoy time in nature and the myriad of benefits this brings. 

The Program Manager will make lasting connections with and between community members, community-based organizations, public agencies, schools, churches, parent centers, businesses, and key stakeholders in support of Nature for All’s outdoor access All Aboard for Nature! program. Our ideal candidate is a community-oriented individual who possesses a focus on equity, inclusion, cultural competency, risk management, and someone who has a love for the outdoors. Their outgoing nature and passion will inspire program participants from throughout Los Angeles County to learn more about, protect, and enjoy nature. 

The Program Manager has proven experience with program management, interpretive program facilitation and outings, and is comfortable speaking and presenting to various audiences. The role requires an experienced highly responsible, organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated individual who is committed to continuous learning; and can work both independently and as part of a team. This role will work to deliver a variety of live, in-person and virtual informational sessions as needed, and will deliver all trips in person. This is a full-time, exempt position, with a salary range of $64,500-$70,000, commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of All Aboard for Nature trips and outdoor interpretive programming with an emphasis on safety; to meet organizational objectives;
• Research, plan and conduct workshops and guided tours, with knowledge of the natural and cultural history, local flora, fauna, and geology of various trip sites within Los Angeles County, including nature centers, the San Gabriel Mountains, local watersheds, and points of interest;
• Collaborate with team members and coordinate cross-project activities as it relates to all programs, communications, operations, and grant development and reporting; 
• Proactive communication and problem-solving with strong decision-making capability;
• Tracking, documenting, and maintaining accurate records of all relevant program data, expenses, and evaluation metrics required for grant reporting and compliance;
• Produce weekly, monthly, annual, and final reports as required in a timely manner;
• Travel to various community sites to meet with community partners, conduct informational sessions, scout locations for future All Aboard for Nature trips;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Prior and a minimum of four years experience delivering interpretative guided tours and is a certified California Naturalist.
• Extensive professional experience working on issues related to public lands, regional habitats, parks, water, climate resilience, or advocacy in environmental/conservation issues.
• Experience facilitating group and risk management techniques for groups of various sizes and backgrounds on and off the trail.
• Strong interest in natural and environmental issues, tribal history, outdoor recreation, and nature.
• Excellent communication skills, with an ability to write, read and speak with diverse audiences fluently in English and Spanish.
• Ability to work remotely as well as work outdoors for hours at a time for tours to local watershed areas, parks, the San Gabriel Mountains, and other destinations, including evening and weekend hours. 
• Proven success connecting and working with community members and demonstrates consciousness of equitable access to nature, environmental justice, climate and social justice
• Must be able to perform this role safely, without endangering the health or safety of themselves or others.
• Must be able to work independently in a remote setting and cooperatively as part of a team.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office or Google Suite.
• May lift up to 50 lbs. periodically.
• A First-Aid Certificate must be obtained within 60 days after hiring and must be kept valid during the term of employment. 
• Must have reliable transportation in order to be punctual and dependable and possess a valid California Driver’s License and insurance coverage to travel within Los Angeles County.

Highly Desirable Experience & Certification

• Holds Interpretive Guide certification
• Holds First-Aid/WFA training certification
• Hold BS/BA Degree in a related field

Workload and Physical Demands

This position will require weekend and evening work, as well as travel. While performing this position, the employee is regularly required to operate a computer for up to 8 hours a day, to talk on the telephone or webcam for multiple hours per day, and to have the ability to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to support outdoor events and to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Because this position has responsibilities requiring direct interactions with others, the employee will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, although reasonable accommodation requests will be considered.
